WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME? - Arena Fight

[Sundance]

Gates screeched to a stop above your heads, an expanse of tussled dirt and grass stretching before you in a small pit. The opposite side held your opponent beneath the shade of an overhang. You were left to walk in, and once you had, there a soft swoosh of air and the screeching sound of metal rubbing against metal. there was no getting out of this one.

A crowd had slowly began to grow in the seats above you, vaulted walls keeping civilians in their seats while they waited for the fight to begin in anticipation. If one looked closely enough, you could spot a small corner of the arena had sat betters, who cashed in enormous sums of money in a guess as to who would win.

Vanitas could definitely strike first, without a doubt. All you had to wait for was the resounding boom of the announcers voice, who eventually came on and, after a countdown, allowed the both of you to go at it.

As the Sneasel walked throug this withered yet intact arena, he wondered what the original purpose of this place was. Was it to test the strength between two adversaries? Two solve conflicts that could not be solved peacefully? To entertain pokemons who wished to saw the greatest fight? And if the legends were true, why would such a wise creator allow this place of battle instincts to exist? Though considering he willingly participated in this, he probably had no right to look down on the individual(s) who were responsible for the arena.

Van stood as he beheld his opponent, which was a Noibat. No Ice Punch, because that would be way too much overkill. Though Van was unsure if he should use Dark type attacks either, since due to his Dark type nature, they were also empowered. It would depend on what the Noibat would use, since he did not know its abilities. Though he would step it up if he got into a scrape from holding back.

The Sneasel was surprised to see there was indeed a small crowd of pokemon he recognized from the town. taking seats to view the fight. Heh, perhabs the primitive aspects of this arena were true after all. Though he did not care for the viewers, not the idiotic betters. He just wanted a strong adversary to improve himself, and perhabs teach that other fighter a good lesson or two (not in the mean-spirited way). 

Van knew that he was faster than almost any other pokemon from Andalusst; after all, it was a Sneasel's trademark skill. So once the countdown of the announcer pokemon, he dashed towards the Noibat, using the empowered speed of a Quick Attack to dash towards in an attempt to slam his body against Holly.

[Holly]

Holly the Noibat To be honest, Holly had not expected a crowd. She had no illusions about her own current skills, nor about the skills of any opponent she would be pitted against. She could hold her own in a fight, perhaps, but her battling skills were nothing spectacular, no chair smashes or overhead throws to wow the audience. But the roar of applause that sounded as Holly entered the arena proved her wrong, as the Noibat blinked in surprise at the small crowd of pokemon that had gathered. All the more reason to win this then. Holly squared her shoulders as she saw her opponent. A Sneasel, huh? Well, there was no way she was getting an attack in before her opponent, so... Holly just barely had time to brace herself before the Sneasel had collided with her in midair, sending them bith tumbling. Spreading her wings wide and twisting to try and get aloft again before they were both sent crashing, Holly attempted to shove the Sneasel away from her before taking to the air once more. Holly uses TACKLE!

Colliding with Holly, they both spiraled towards the ground. However, the Noibat managed to push herself off of him, leaving only Van who landed on all of his fours while she remained in the air. It was then he felt the numb pain in his chest which had been the result of a Tackle attack, making him stumble forwards a little more. Purposefully letting himself fall to the ground to regain balance, he made roll forward to slow himself down. In one motion, he managed to get back on his two hind legs, turning around to face his opponent once again.

It appeared he had done a lot of damage to the Noibat, causing him to assume a more defensive stance. Okay, this fight was pretty much over, but there was no reason to break her self-esteem, or body, for that matter. Weren't bat-pokemon famous for having some sort of lifesteal-attack? If she had that, he would allow her to get back some of her health. This is why he decided to do nothing on his turn and just wait for the Noibat to act. If she would just desperately attack him though, he would finish it with another Quick Attack. Otherwise, this might turn into an unintentional mockery. 

[Holly]

Holly the Noibat It was when they collided that Holly realized how screwed she was. She had expected another pokemon of about her level. This one was tough, and more than that, it slowly began to dawn on her he was going easy on her. She had climbed into the air as quickly as possible after their collision, frantically trying to get some distance between them to lessen the power of his next blow, but as she turned her head, Holly realized that the Sneasel wasn't even't doing anything...simply sitting there. Which was somehow far worse than if he had simply taken her down in one blow. Holly frantically flipped through her admittedly small list of moves in her mind, determined to at least show the Sneasel a good fight. Tackling him did damage, but not enough, and while Leech Life regained her own health, it once again wouldn't be enough for this situation. Taking a gamble, Holly focused on Vanitas and let out a scream far above the hearing pitch of any but another bat. The loud thrum focused itself on her opponent, attempting to confuse him. Maybe if he couldn't attack... Holly uses Supersonic!

Gazing at the Noibat with an expression of disappointment, he sighed and shook his head as he accepted the reality that this was not turn into a real fight after all. Despite purposefully avoiding his advantages, he had simply powered up too much in the dungeons he had explored. Splaying his talons, he prepared himself for another dive of the Noibat in an attempt to attack him, just so he could dish out similar medicine and end this 'battle'.

But, it did not come as he had expected. She just remained there in the air, likely thinking about how she could possibly beat him. Or perhabs she was stalling since she likely had nothing in her arsenal that could hope to stop him. Suddenly however, the Noibat opened her maw... without anything really happening. There was no noise, making Van believe that she had simply yawned violently.

But then... something overcame him, causing his body to be stiff and his vision to be blurry and filled with non-sensical shapes and colors. His eyes widened in shock as he realized she had used his presumptious reluctance against him. "Not... bad..." He commented with a grin, crediting Holly for her clever move; still thankful though he was at least able to think and speak normally. Just... his senses were utterly discordant.

But he would not just stand there and take everything in. With his claws still splayed, he simply started slashing everywhere around him, hoping he would not accidentally hit himself in the process. If she wanted to take him up-close... she could not make a mistake. Just one hit with his Scratch and she would likely faint. 

[Holly]

Holly the Noibat Holly heaved a sigh of relief as she saw Vanitas's eyes glaze over. It looked like her move had worked like a charm! But that didn't mean victory quite yet. He could still snap out of his confusion any time to attack her, and when he did, Holly would be a sitting psyduck. As the Sneasel began slashing about madly, Holly decided to take yet another gamble. She could sit here and wait to be defeated, or... Holly folded in her wings and dove, frantically trying to avoid the swinging claws as she reached out to sink her fangs into the Sneasel. All she needed was one bite... that would be all it took to leech some of Vanitas's energy into herself, hopefully evening the playing field out a little bit more. But if his claws so much as touched her.. this next attack would decide it all. Holly uses Leech Life!

Feeling both the pain of her fangs in his body and his talons scratching away at himself, he screamed loud. He had actually done more damage to himself than she did to him, but the combination of both cause an intense feeling of pangs for him. His legs buckled for a moment, though he did not lose his mettle nor his stance. He had done a mistake, which was attempting to attack the Noibat with an attack he was not resistant towards. In case he had hit himself, that would have done much less damage. He regretted his naivity, though he would make up for it.

Still in a state that was similar to inebriation, he nonetheless let ice energy flow through his veins, causing his talons to be encased in Ice. Now, there was no holding back, since Holly had asked for it. Boisterously, he swung his Ice Punch - empowered fist in every conceiveable direction, in an attempt to hit the Noibat after all. Hopefully, this time, odds were on his side. 

If he would lose this fight after all... that would eat away at his pride. Then again, he had not taken it seriously, and he pretty much could have already won if he had chosen a different attack than Quick Attack. He knew that, which made a potential loss easier to digest. He nonetheless sought victory. 

[Holly]

Holly the Noibat Oh how she really and truly loved the power of confusion. The Sneasel only managed to scratch himself as he was flailing around for her, and Holly swooped up again, revitalized, if only a little, and suddenly brimming with confidence. That Scratch had hurt her opponent far more than her own attacks had. If she could just get him to do that two or three more times, she would actually have a fair chance at winning this. Of course, that was a matter of luck so much as skill. Sneasel could still snap out of his confusion at any moment, and once he did, the battle would be back to the direction it had been originally going. So she had to make this fast. Folding in her wings, Holly dove again, once again trying to avoid the deadly, fearful, ice in favor of draining more health from her target. Holly uses Leech Life!

This did not seem like fair chance anymore. A 50% chance he would either damage himself or Holly, and he had damaged himself twice. Van was lying on the floor with the belly towards the sky, his sensory organs still overflowed with nonesense. He frowned and looked desperate. This just could not be happening... random chance defeating him here. Just 1 hit, he just needed to land a single hit on her. How... did he even manage to hit himself? Darn it, so this was what he got  from being nice and patient... a ridicule.

Well then... never mercy again. It had been a mistake on the Emolga and a mistake on his current opponent. From now on, he would simply destroy his opponent, bethey damnged if they suffered more than just a faint. Gnashing his teeth, he pushed himself on his knees, and weakly, he managed to get up. His stance was very unstable though, and his bruised body was consonant with it. 

"50... 50..." He spoke quietly, not looking anywhere in particular. "Twice... chance has saved you already. A 25% chance I would hit myself twice. A 12.5% chance I will hit myself a third time. Simple math to calculate the chance of a specific row of events among other possibilities occuring." He explained her, remembering his old math classes quite well actually. He started to grin as a Dark Shroud started to engulf his talons. "The battle was over either way since the first attack and you know that; now... let us see how this farce shall end!" He at first spoke quietly before starting to shout his word.

Again, furiously, he swung his Feint Attack - empowered talons around him in a vain attempt to hit Holly. He was not mad at Holly, he was mad at the misfortune he had thus far. This was really not a fight, this was just rediculous. But he at least had learned a lesson from this. Mercy really was for the imbeciles

[Holly]

Holly the Noibat Actually because of independent assortment, since the other two actions already happened and are decided, it's still a 50% chance you'll hit yourself. The outcome of one action (a hit or a miss) does not in any way affect the other actions. I just took a year of college stats, I'm sorry for being a nerd ^^: Holly wheeled around as she huffed for breath, relishing the new energy from the twin Leech Lifes. She was actually starting to feel like herself again...and even feeling a glimmer of hope. The Sneasel was weakening now, and it dawned on Holly that she had only to hit him once more..just one more blow and she could win this. It all depended on a coin toss, Holly realized. Twice, the coin had landed in her favor and the Sneasel had attacked himself. And yet a third time luck had been on her side as, for whatever reason, he hadn't chosen to start with an ice attack and finish her off right away. All she needed was one more lucky move...once more for the coin to land in her favor, and she could do this. She once again dove, once again trying to furiously evade those claws as she used her Leech Life to dive forward and try to bite her opponent. And couldn't resist calling as she dove. "We'll just see about that!" They would see indeed. --- Holly uses LEECH LIFE!
