Deliver Escape Orb | Dungeon Thread

As you appear into the Eerie Woods, you find yourself surrounded by withering and dead trees. 
But what's that? There's an item! ... It's being protected by a very angry looking Yanma..
You can either choose to fight or flee.

[Roamer]

Roamer and Vanitas entered the Eerie Woods, and the Charmander was already amazed by the looks of the area. It all looked.. dead. It kind of gave Roamer the creeps, but because Vanitas was with him- he knew everything was going to be alright.
"Alright!" The Charmander beamed, but then his eyes fell on the Yanma.. and the item that was located farther off. "Oh!" Roamer exclaimed with a smirk, and then looked at Vanitas. "Ready when you are, Vanitas!" The fire pokémon exclaimed, before charging into battle.

Roamer scratched the Yanma with a Metal Claw, hoping it would hit the Yanma!

The Eerie Woods were described as... well... eerie, but Vanitas did not saw him like that. it was probably because of his dark type nature, but he enjoyed the sight of the flora engulfing this entire place. It was, as he liked to attribute beautiful places, serene and tranquil. And heck, even Roamer seemed to be amazed by the sight, so it probably was just not him. It was a piece of nature, of which so much more was consumed by the fog. Yet another reason to vanquish it.

For this mission, he deferred to Roamer, since it was more a test for him than a test for Van, at least in the Sneasel's eyes. He had the self-esteem and bravado, but making sure Roamer would attain as well, while also gaining some proof of their competence as explorers, was worthwhile. The Charmander would lead the way, and it seemed he was enjoying it, beaming like the sun.

Thankfully, Roamer's eyes were sharp, since he managed to spot the Yanma and the item in the distance almost immediately. This made Van smile briefly. "I'm always ready." He assured Roamer with a grin. Together, they charged into battle. Van was actually quite astonished when Roamer used Iron Claw.  That was an unusual technique for a fire type to have. He had expected some sort of fire beam to be honest.

But whatever suited Roamer best. Leaping at the Yanma, winds of forst engulfed Van's claws, making him perform a mighty Ice Punch against the Yanma. That should be much more effective than Roamer's steel attack. If only he had a fire based attack, this dungeon could be a piece of cake.

Roamer used Metal Claw! It did 5 damage!

Yanma Health 16/21

The Yanma fell on the floor, but then zoomed into the air again only to be hit by Vanitas' attack!

Vanitas used Ice Punch! It's super effective!

The Yanma fell onto the floor once again, and then disappeared into thin air. 

Congratulations!
Vanitas and Roamer earn 105 EXP.


Vanitas grew to level 7!

After Vanitas had struck the Yanma with his Ice Punch, Charmander immediately felt the boost of power. Had he truly just.. fainted a pokémon?
The fire pokémons blue eyes started sparkling with determination as he looked at Vanitas. "That.. was.. AWESOME!" He beamed, running around Vanitas for a few times until he realized he was truly being childish.
The Charmander blushed and then slowly approached the item to pick it up. After that, he decided to move to the bottom left passage to continue on their mission. They still needed to bring that Escape Orb to Politoed! That was Roamer's first priority right now, be a hero!

[Vanitas]

It was not only Roamer that felt his strength increase, but Vanitas as well, proudly standing there as he watched the Yanma disappear to hopefully wake up from its frenzy in a safe place. Turning his head towards the Charmander, Van could only smile with delight when he saw his current partner all excited and beaming with self-efficacy. Guess his thin shell of uncertainty had been cracked, leaving but a determined pokemon ready for action. "I guess it was." He commented with a calm, but delighted tone.

Though seeing the Charmander run around him in circles was a bit over the top, now was it? It definetly made the Sneasel scratch his head with an unstable grin. Eventually, he stopped; thank you; and got back to business, which was the item waiting for them to pick up. Charmander put it into its inventory, whatever it was, and he left for the path at the bottom left.

Without saying a word, Van simply followed, his eyes shifting everywhere to spot potential threats, though it was unlikely that something could hide in the thick flora of this place.

Roamer picked up an Oran Berry!

As you move to the next room the area hasn't really changed much apart from its shape. But... what's this? Stairs leading to the next floor!
You can either choose to take the stairs or explore some more..

[Roamer]

Roamer smiled a toothy smile seeing Vanitas scratch his head. Oops. The Charmander just got very excited at being in a dungeon.
The fire pokémon held out the Oran Berry to Vanitas. "Would you like to have it?" He asked, wanting to share the loot they found. It was but common descency to offer it to his exploration partner.

So the duo made their way through the narrow opening and ended up in a somewhat smaller area. However, the first thing that caught Roamer's interest were the stairs.
"Nice!" The Charmander said, before looking at another narrow opening.
"Would you like to take the stairs or explore some more?"
Whatever Vanitas would choose, would be their decision.

[Vanitas]

Vanitas appreciated the propriety of Roamer, but shook his head with a pleasant smile. "It's alright. You get the first healing berry. The next one is mine though." He responded, his smile shifting to a slightly impish grin. If he already offered to share, then Van might as well allow him to have the first item. But the Sneasel would definetly remember this aspect of Roamer's personality. It was... delectable.

Back to the business at hand. It appeared the room they were in contained the portal to the next floor, which was good to know. And it appeared Roamer agreed, exclaiming his happiness through a single word. If he wanted to explore further or take the stairs immediately? Good question. "It is just a delivery, right? And only on the 5th floor, right? No reason to rush. Let us take our time to explore and perhabs find items that come in handy later." He reasoned, noting that the Charmander would follow whatever path he chose.

Pointing at the hallway at the bottom of the room, he took the first steps towards it before signifying his partner to follow. For this brief moment, he would take over the leadership.

As you take the route down you bump into an enemy Misdreavus! 
Roamer and Vanitas get the first turn because they are faster than Misdreavus!

The Charmander smiled as Vanitas said that he was allowed to keep the Oran Berry, but the next item would be his. "Sure!" The fire pokémon said. Sharing was caring, and since they weren't a team this item would have to be shared between characters. Not that Roamer was bothered by it, you couldn't get everything.

When Vanitas said that it was an easy mission, Roamer nodded. B5F would be very easy. Especially with Vanitas around.
The Charmander followed the Sneasel down the path, but their path was blocked by an enemy Misdreavus.
"Oh." Roamer said, but didn't hesitate to fight.

Roamer used Ember! The flames flew right past Vanitas in hope it would hit the Misdreavus!

[Vanitas]

Vanitas was glad they were unanimous about sharing items, though he never had any doubts about that. They were a team, at least temporarily, after all, and Roamer seemed like someone that would even share with his fiercest enemy if required. Sharing was caring, and it seemed that Roamer cared about his partner. Strangely enough, the feeling was mutual on his part, feeling an unusual connections towards the Charmander. He could not quite put it, but... perhabs that was... friendship? Whatever it was, he liked it.

And once again, Van was glad that they agreed about what path to take. Sometimes, someone offered you choices despite seeking a specific one, making you 'choose' that. Roamer was not like that, not double-tongued, which he appreciated. Honesty was one of the greatest virtue, especially for an explorer. But enough with crediting his ally, they still had business to do.

A Misdreavous blocked his path. Darn it, if only he was a little stronger, he might finally tap into the darkness within him and unleash it in the form tenebrous attacks against the Ghost Pokemon. He saw how the flames that were casted by his ally flew above him in an attempt to hit the ghost pokemon. "Huh, already thought you could not use fire attacks due to your metal claw." He commented with a grin, feeling awkward that he had misjudged the Charmander like that.  A fire pokemon that could not conjure fire? Yeah, that would have been weird.

Realizing that ghost pokemons were not weak against ice, Van instead dashed towards the Misdreavous, using his talons to Scratch it. No reason to waste valuable ice energy on an opponent that was not weak against ice.

Roamer used Ember! Misdreavus took 6 damage!

The ghost type whimpered for a moment but did not stagger. 
Misdreavus noticed another incoming attack!

Vanitas used Scratch! It wasn't very effective..

The Misdreavus sort of laughed as the Sneasel's attack went right through it. 
Misdreavus used growl! 

Roamer's attack was lowered by 1!
Vanitas' attack was lowered by 1!

[Roamer]

Roamer looked incredibly happy when his ember had connected to the Misdreavus, and he looked at Vanitas expectingly as the Sneasel dashed to scratch the Misdreavus.
But... the attack went right through him?!
"Oh.." Roamer muttered, before smirking sheepishly when he realized that normal attacks weren't effective against ghost type pokémon.

However his eyes widened as the Misdreavus prepared itself for an attack. The Misdreavus growled at him, and the Charmander literally looked unimpressed.
"Really? That's all?" He said, before summoning up another flame in his mouth.

Roamer used Ember!

Vanitas stumbled briefly before eventually managing to break and get back into a fighting stance. Did his attack just phase right through that ghost pokemon? Wait... yes of course! Ghost pokemons were usually immune against normal attacks. Shoot! If only he had realized that sooner,  and if only he already could unleash the darkness within him against this fiend. "Did... did you just... make fun of me?" He spoke under his breath, fury in his voice. This was of course primarily directed at the ghost pokemon. 

There was both shame and aggravation in his expression as he glared at the Misdreavous which used its negative powers to slightly weaken his muscles. Van had made a mistake, and his opponent had laughed at him for that. Then he would have to correct his mistake.

Thankfully, Roamer was still full of bravado, which inspired Vanitas a little. After scorching the ghostly frame of their opponent once again, Van sprinted towards it yet again, this time his claws being engulfed in an aura of frost. Using his Ice Punch technique, he hoped he would do at least some damage this time. "Killingly funny, isn't it?!" He shouted during his attack, needing to vent his wrath. If he hit, it would likely only take one more fire attack from Roamer to finish the deal, which he looked forward to.

Of course it was not his intention to destroy the Misdreavous' life, just to teach it a lesson. He was not a monster after all, just a dark type pokemon.
