Boom goes the Togepi [open]

Andalusst isn't exactly what you would call a 'sleepy town'. There was always activity on the streets, no matter the time of day or night. Shops were open to the general public during daylight hours while nocturnal pokemon roamed the streets at night. There was always some measure of sound going on.

Which is why this kind of silence was always a blessing. The sun had just risen above the horizon, painting the sky a wondrous mixture of violet, orange, and pink. All of the night pokemon were at home, settling into bed, and the day pokemon were still in bed, not to wake for another few hours.

It was the perfect time to do a bit of training by herself. It wasn't that Julia MINDED the other apprentices at the guild. They were her sorta-friends, her partners and classmates. They were all learning to be explorers together. It was just... they were so LOUD. And stupid. And nosy. And it was like none of them took training seriously, always goofing off and having fun. It made Julia so angry sometimes!

If there were any other pokemon around, then Julia didn't see them. It was just her, the river, and the trees. Calm, peaceful, quiet. It wouldn't be for long, though. Today she wanted to train her Metronome attack. There had to be SOME way of directing what she wanted! Maybe it had to do with energy, or thought, or emotion. But she was going to find out!

The rebellious Togepi stood in a clearing, facing her chosen tree. She glared at it in determination and started her attack, waving her arms from side to side and mentally chanting, 'Ice beam, ice beam, ice beam...' Her attack finished, and her arms glowed brightly.

Boom.

Julia coughed and blinked, waving her arms around to try and clear the smoke from the random Explosion attack. It didn't do much good, with her stubby little appendages, and she was forced to wait it out until she could breath earlier.

Test one, failure. Time to try again.

Koshi the Great

Ah the morning, the perfect time for the flying type Pokemon Koshi to get up and start training for the day. Hoping out of the guild and looking up at the beautiful morning sky he let out a loud yawn before flapping his wings and setting off to his favorite spot. Usually he would head to the Dojo or go to a dungeon but today he felt like something smaller, trying to enhance his speed or find something fun to attack would be just fine. He would ask for a training partner but his ego was too large and he didn't want to hurt any of the other explorers in his training, though he was still only young himself.

Flying through the brisk morning air before the intense summer heat of the day kicked in, the Pidgey closed his eyes and simply glided down. Humming to himself as he thought about what he was going to do today, would he practice that move his father taught him? Or would he do some speed training? Would he test his reactions? Or would he test his endurance? So many things he could do today.

As he flew over the river and started his descent he was quickly caught off guard by an explosion sound that resounded through the air. "What the!" He shouted and squawked as he looked down to see the smoke and immediately moved into a dive, landing right outside the smoke and watched as it began to disappear slowly.

Turning his head he watched as a small figure appeared out of the smoke, obviously it didn't notice he was here but he couldn't help but let out a laugh. A small Togepi made such a big explosion? Was he still dreaming? "Are you alright?"

Maximus

[Maximus]

Max couldn't sleep.

How could he, with so much happening in his life right now? His dream was finally coming into realization: him, Maximus, a bona fide explorer! It was the first step to becoming the greatest adventurer of all time, and try as he might, he just couldn't settle down and get a good night's rest. He was far too happy and jittery and excited.

So, after a sleepless night of tossing and turning in his nest, the Tyrunt decided that he may as well get up and get acquainted with the area. Andalusst was going to be his base of operations starting today--it would be foolish (foolish!) to not explore a little and find the best eateries ER I MEAN. The best TRAINING SPOTS in town. Yeah.

He'd started from the Guild and fanned out, exploring the town. It turned out to be rather boring--there were very few Pokemon awake at this hour, which meant very few shops were open. It was like walking through a ghost town. Soon he was at the village outskirts near where the river cut through the town. If anything, it was even quieter here than in the heart of Andalusst. Damn. Max sighed and sat against one of the trees that dotted the area.

BOOM.

And just like that he was up on his feet, eyes wide as he stared in the direction of a column of smoke rising into the air not far from him. "What the--"

He shook his head. This was no time to gape! He was an explorer! Explorers didn't just stand around and hang their jaws! They bravely risked their lives to save poor innocent Pokemon from dangerous explosions!

A fire lit in his belly and he charged down the river. Before long he came upon the site of the explosion; a Togepi and a Pidgey were there. Endangered civilians! Maximus sped up.

"Don't worry! I'll save you! I'm an explorer!"

Julia

Julia hadn't heard the sound of wings flapping, being too busy coughing up a lung or two, and was startled by the laugh from three feet away. Julia glared warily at the small pokemon, a Pidgey with a flying helmet. It was more the helmet that she recognized than the Pidgey himself.

She'd seen him around the guild hall, but couldn't for the life of her remember his name. At least he pretended to be nice, asking if she was alright. "Yeah, I'm great. Just peachy. Never better." she grumbled, glaring at the scorch marks on the ground. "Metronome is a useless move. Never learn it."

Could Pidgeys actually learn it, though, even if they wanted to? They didn't have fingers or arms to wave back and forth, the closest being their talons and wings, so maybe they can't. It would look weird if they used their wings, and she didn't think any bird pokemon had the dexterity of their talons enough to use just one...

Her thought process was popped like a bubble though when she heard the most obnoxious voice she'd ever heard. "Don't worry, I'll save you! I'm an explorer!" Ugh, just what she needed. Maximus needed no introduction, he was a large enough presence that everyone knew who he was. A thick headed moron whose brain was smaller than his eyeball. "So are we, you nimrod." she grumbled under her breath, restarting her Metronome attack.

She was hoping for some awe-inspiring, all-terrifying attack, like Fire Black or Thunderbolt. Instead, what came out of her attack was a beam of bright pink hearts, and Julia had a mild panic attack. Oh crap oh crap oh crap, she'd just used SWEET KISS on MAXIMUS. Of all Pokemon! Metronome was the stupidest move to ever exist and if it wasn't her only chance of causing damage she would never EVER use it.

Koshi the Great

Trying to muffle his laugh and not make the Togepi anymore angry than she already was he brought his wing up to his beak and covered it as a few more chuckles escaped. He looked back up at the Togepi and started to hop toward her, "Metronome aye, I've heard of that. Weird move..." He said smiling as he examined the scorch marks, he was surprised she was still ok from what she had done and so close. After looking back at the Togepi some more he saw that the spikes on her head were black and it clicked, he knew who she was!

"J..J.. Something? You're from the g-" He was immediately cut off by the hilarious and loud obnoxious voice of what Koshi thought, to be the biggest bone head in the Guild. Maximus, yeah sure, he's as big of an explorer as my right claw... He thought to himself as the Dinosaur Pokemon ran towards them yelling and carrying on like he's some sort of professional. "Calm down bone head. Nothing is wrong here." He said sighing and turning his head to the side like an owl.

Without his knowledge from right next to him came out some hearts that made their way towards Maximus, he turned his head to Julia and let out a loud obnoxious laugh again as he fell on his back and rolled on the ground. "Oh my Arceus, you just... BAAAAhahaahaha." He couldn't help himself, this was hilarious! She had just used Sweet Kiss in some sort of attempt to show Maximus that we were fine and now there was a heart floating towards him.

Maximus

"Huh? What? You don't need saving?"

Max skidded to a halt several feet away from the two Pokemon, an eyebrow arched in confusion. "But... the smoke... and the boom... isn't someone in trouble?" He looked from the Togepi to the Pidgey and back again--the both of them were, in turn, staring back at him, looking thoroughly unamused and maybe even a bit annoyed. The Togepi was smoking a little, but neither seemed the worse for wear. Huh.

...Wait a minute.

"Haven't I seen you guys befo--"

Suddenly, hearts. Rapidly growing bigger. Launching straight at him. Oh my god what was happening was he in danger was he gonna die should he scream--

And suddenly, Julia was the most beautiful Pokemon he had ever seen.
Or maybe Koshi?
No, it was definitely Julia.
Or maybe the Guild Master, or the guild's chef.

Or something?

Wait, where the hell was he? What was he doing here?

Unsteady on his feet, Max hobbled closer to the two Pokemon. He looked at Julia, or maybe it was Koshi, or both, or neither, and tried to speak. His tongue--tongue?????--felt twisty and heavy and ungainly and alien, and it made forming words difficult.

"Ex.....cuse? You? Me? But where, am I? Me? Who is me?" He blinked rapidly. "Hello? Sir? General?"

Horror. Panic. Anxiety. Then back to horror. Julia's emotions were bouncing between those three over and over again as the hearts sailed toward an already-confused looking Maximus. The Pidgey was certainly not helping with his hysterical laughing, and if Julia wasn't such a kind benevolent pokemon she'd totally kick him in the gut for the love of Arceus she's freaking out here!

By the time the hearts actually hit Maximus Julia was as close to resigned as she would allow herself to get. Whatever trouble the bonehead got into, she'd be responsible for it. Joy. But she'd totally bully the Pidgey into helping her out as well, because it was totally his fault. Somehow. In some way.

The Tyrunt fumbled his Confused way toward the two smaller pokemon, looking like he was about to trip over his own feet. Since he was like a bajillion times bigger and heavier than them, Julia decided it was in their best bet if she and the Pidgey moved so Maximus didn't crush them.

She lightly nudged- read, slammed- her tiny leg into the bird's stomach to move him out of the way. Where he went afterwards she didn't care, so long as she didn't have to clean up feathers and blood and guts and bury the body. Maximus started speaking, but he was so Confused he couldn't even speak properly, instead only getting out every other word. And it came out twisted, like the words weren't coming out in the right order.

Julia looked at the sky and groaned. All she'd wanted this morning was a chance to practice and train in the relative peace and quiet of the dawn. Was that too much to ask? Now she had a Pidgey whose name she couldn't remember for the life of her and a Tyrunt who, if someone didn't know better, was acting incredibly concussed. "Crap. We're going to have to stick with him until this wears off." she sighed. Then she glanced at the Pidgey and finally introduced herself as, "Hey, I'm Julia by the way. You're... Orlando?" No, that most definitely didn't sound right. But it was the first name that popped to her head so there had to be SOMEBODY named Orlando at the guild.

Koshi the Great

Hysterical laughter escaped the Pidgey's beak as the scene unfolded in front of him, from the Togepi using Sweet Kiss to the bumbling Dinosaur stopping in his tracks and then getting incredibly confused by the whole thing even before the attack hit him. What came after that made Koshi want to fall on his back with his feet in the air laughing for a solid hours but before he could even begin he felt a small kick to his stomach but the impact that came from it was a lot more than expected as he got sent back a few feet as the Tyrunt took a step where he previously was.

With his eyes widening and the grin on his face subsiding Koshi stood back up and nodded to the Togepi, "How long does this normally last? Julia." He said with a hint of annoyance at the egg Pokemon for saying the complete wrong name, he was Koshi! Everyone in the guild should know his name... Well they will know his name, when he starts going on jobs and exploring dungeons.

"It's Koshi!" He squawked waving his wings, but a small idea came to his mind as the Tyrunt began to speak more calling them sir and general. A twinkle in his eye he puffed out his chest and lowered his voice, "What is your name Private? You come he rampaging across my field? I am General Koshi and you will do well to remember that. Attention!" He yelled as he raised his wing to his forehead to signify a salute, if this guy was going to be confused, Koshi though he may as well have some fun with it. It wasn't every day a dinosaur came around to play.

Maximus

Whoa. Private? Was he part of an army?

What a thing to forget.

Maximus stood up straighter and brought his arm up in a salute. Or, in as much of a salute as his tiny little appendage could manage. Which wasn't much. And he couldn't exactly control his arm in his current state of mind, so instead of pulling off a smart salute he ended up smacking his claws against his chin. Tyrunt lost 1 HP.

"I am! Who am, I? General? General Orlando?" He squinted as he looked down at the Pidgey, trying to process everything the bird Pokemon was saying. "Why... am I here? Rampage? Here?"

Suddenly remembering that he'd forgotten to remember where he was, he whipped his head from side to side, all the while swaying on unsteady feet. There was a... what was it called? A water road? And General Orlando, and, the, the egg. The talking egg. But why was he here? Who were these people? Did he know them? Who was he?

A tiny prickle of a memory flashed inside his head. "...........Max?????"

But his thoughts were so sluggish and unreadable that he couldn't even begin to know who this Max person was. He looked at the Pidgey--no. He was General Orlando. Right? Right. Then he looked at Julia.

".......................Max?" He pointed a clawed finger at her. "You?"

Julia Koshi

Koshi stopped laughing immediately when she kicked him out of the way of Maximus's way, and Julia couldn't say she was sorry for it. The Pidgey nodded at her in wordless gratitude and looked up at the bumbling Tyrunt. "How long does this usually last? Julia." She shrugged in frustration at him. "I have no idea. I've never used THAT move before."

Maybe if she refused to name it, the fact that she'd technically given Maximus a kiss wouldn't seem real. Like a hallucination from a fever dream. Koshi seemed rather annoyed with her not knowing his name, but she couldn't find it in herself to really care. Maybe if he was a better explorer she'd know his name.

It didn't seem to bother Koshi much, though. No matter how ticked he might've been, a spark of mischief appeared in his eyes and he flew in front of Max with a puffed out chest. Despite herself, Julia was curious and didn't say anything. She did, however, smack herself in the face when he barked out, "What is your name Private? You come he rampaging across my field? I am General Koshi and you will do well to remember that. Attention!"

Maximus straightened up and attempted a salute, only to smack himself with his own claws in his confusion. Julia hid a snicker. "I am! Who am, I? General? General Orlando?" She snickered harder. That wasn't going away any time soon and she would laugh every time it came up. "Why... am I here? Rampage? Here?"

The Confused Tyrunt swung his head around, as if observing the area for the first time. Julia wondered if he noticed the scorch marks from the Explosion that had drawn the two of them to her, but probably not. Not in the state he was in. A look of concentration crossed his face, then uncertainty, and finally he hesitantly questioned after a long pause, "... Max??"

But it seemed he didn't know who the name belonged to. He looked at Koshi first, then to her. "... Max? You?" Julia decide to play along with Koshi's little game and puffed herself up importantly, much like Koshi had. "Who do you think you are, Private? I am Commander Julia, leader of the Freedom Forces!" A tad cliche, but it worked. "You are Private Max. General Orlando-" don't snicker, don't snicker, "and I were discussing important battle plans when you came running across the field to us. Now what was your report?"

She almost felt sorry for the poor dino.

Still trying to control his laughter as he acted like the general he couldn't help but laugh at just how stupid this Tyrunt was. Tears starting to well up in his eyes from holding in the laughter he couldn't help but just burst when Julia started to join in. "BAAHAHAHA! The freedom Forces?.... I mean yeah.. HA! The freedom Forces. You were going to... Report to us Dino boy."

He flapped his wings and made his way up to Max's height and stared him in the eyes whilst trying to grimace, "Well? Are you going to be loopy all day or are you going to spit it out!?" In the back of his mind, Koshi was hoping that this would wear off soon, he sent his wing forward and slapped Max on the side of his giant nose. "You awake now Private?!" He flapped his wings a few more times and landed on the Tyrunts head, if he didn't wake up soon he was going to start pecking at him and neither of them wanted that.
