  The sky had been overcast the whole day. A cool wind danced through Andalusst while various townpeople went about their day, occasionally shivering from a strong gust that blew at their form. However, cheers could still be heard from the stands of the arena, despite the nippy prospect of the day and it's morning glory. They watched with anticipation; Vanitas seemed to have become well known throughout the groupings, for this was his third time in the pit of battle. However, the crowd tipped their head in the direction of Axel, eager to see how the fight would pan out. The two of you were placed in a small pit, familiar to one party while unfamiliar to another. The Announcers voice boomed across the stadium, counting down until one. It was without a doubt that Vanitas would strike first, with superior speed. Axel Vanitas |

As a Dark & Ice - type pokemon, it was of course only natural that Van was enjoying the cool, strong winds of the overcast sky. And while Van was known by now, it was not for the right reasons. One fight had been ended in a farce, and the other had been over in but a second. And to be honest, he was not quite sure what to do. If he fought patiently then there was the chance of him being humiliated again, but if he would instantly attempt to down his opponent then the arena battles will likely get boring to watch and unfair for weaker participants since he was a very active fighter accepting any challenge.
Urg... he would have to see what he would do. And he already thought it as he gazed at the Growlithe on the other site of the small arena pit. Not a very status effect heavy pokemon with its fire type, but likely with one or two super effective moves. Of course Van was clearly faster, but... he hesitated. Holly had learned a lot of this, maybe this Growlithe could be tought something as well?
Moving into a defensive stance, Van chose not to do anything. "Okay, you Growlithe. Don't hold back; I'd like to see what you got." He exclaimed over to his opponent, looking forward to what the Growlithe got.

Axel looked deeply into the Sneasel. Axel had heard it was one of the major fighters in the battle against the rampaging dragon Pokemon. If anyone could help Axel find his mother, or even just to help Axel get stronger, it would be this Sneasel. Axel heard the announcer counting down with a booming voice. As the announcer was doing so, Axel began to get ready to avoid a speed attack. He got prepared to evade. However, once the countdown hit 1, the Sneasel did not attack in a very quick attack. Instead, it stood there and told Axel to give the Sneasel all he had. Well.... It was clear that the Sneasel wanted to help his opponent get stronger, but Axel didn't want to take any advantages. Once back to his true mind, Axel charged towards the Sneasel, performing an elaborate jump to get around the Sneasel, and once behind, he said: "Sorry about this!" and then activated Heat Wave. The hot, fiery breath steamed out of Axel's mouth and onto his enemy.

Calmly and patiently, Van followed the movement of the Growlithe he did not know the name of. The Sneasel did not move, and simply gazed at the fire pokemon who charged at him. After an elaborate leap to get behind him, the Growlithe blasted him with a wave of pure heat, causing Van to fall backwards and groan in pain. This had been a rather unexpectedly powerful move from this freshling, which made Vanitas' skin feel like a third degree sunburn.
Still, he was far from done, and leapt back up on his feet to beat the dust out of his fur. "No reason to be sorry." He responded to the Growlithe as he raised his arms and splayed his claws. "That was an impressive move." He credited the Growlithe, before a smile started to form on his lips. "You are an explorer too, right? Good... knowing you on our side is a relief and pleasance." He continued, wanting to boost the Growlithe's confidence a little bit. It never hurt to stroke someone's ego to get them to perform better.
"Alright, now it is my turn." He exclaimed. A dark, thick aura began engulfing his talons; almost like they were enshrouded in a black and weightless liquid. His eyes emitted a purple veil; and small sparks of pure dark energy started to form around the Sneasel. "Don't worry, this will only hurt briefly." He attempted to calm the Growlithe down in case it was starting to worry.
Raising his right arm above his head, Van disappeared in a black flash before almost immediately reappearing in front of the Growlithe, striking it with the full force of his Feint Attack.

Axel was rather happy with the way he had enacted his Heat Wave, but when the sneasel felt fine, Axel realized he must have made an mistake somewhere. Or maybe just this Sneasel was stronger than it looked. Axel spit on the ground, but then realized that he did not even know the opponent's name. "By the way, my names Axel." Axel was still being his normal talkative self, although the reason he was here was to get stronger, and the Sneasel was trying to also help him, it seemed. Axel snapped out of it and realized the Sneasel was gone-but not for long. Quickly it showed up and sucker punched Axel(WILL EDIT IF ATTACK FAILED), dealing good damage and knocking him over, onto the ground. But soon, the Growlithe was back on it's feet. He would not let himself be taken down so easily. For lack of wanting to get hit a second time, Axel tried to push back the Sneasel, to allow him some time to reconsider his fighting style. Axel let's out a ginormous roar! (Or maybe a cute one. idk)

"Nice to meet you Axel. I am Vanitas, Van for short." He responded calmly just before he launched his dark attack. Vanitas stopped immediately after he had delivered the first and final blow againt the Growlithe, rendering it unable to fight. Whatever plans Axel had about getting back up on its feet to continue the fight were now ruined, as he was simply incapeable of performing them. Whatever he might believe he had done was merely a hallucination from the trauma which would quickly subside.
"Impressive strength, but your defense needs improvement." He suggested his co-explorer to train himself in the art of dodging and sustaining damage. It of course was up to Axel what he would do; Van only made a recommendation. There was always the risk to fight someone stronger than you, but with a good defense and some tactical maneuvers every battle could be turned around. He... knew that quite well from experience, though he was glad he had made things up with Holly by now.
"Well then; perhabs we meet again in the guild. So long." He wished him goodbye before turning around, briefly showering in the praise of the cheering crows, and leaving through the gate whence he came.
