A shadow in the night

Nix wandered through the guild with her eyes wandering from place to place as she moved through the room before she came to rest beside the bulletin board. Her eyes moved over it for a moment before she leaned back and turned away. "Bad idea" she muttered to herself after a moment, starting away from the board and heading to the window of the guild to look out. She knew she wanted to do this, to explore the world and hopefully find something to track down her family but she didnt think she could. She was small, yet to really level up or evolve and that was in her head a reason to not be good enough. That and the fact a lot of the explorers here came in team and she didnt know anyone, let alone have plans for a team.

The shinx, bright blue fur waving with slight drafts in the guild building, stuck her head out the window and watched the afternoon sun climb over the tops of their heads. She smiled, idle yellow eyes wandering from the wide, blue expanse to the fog that clouded over the horizon. It lingered and loomed, never receding yet never moving forward to overtake Andalusst. It was as if it were at a standstill with the city, each side making pushes that only ended in one big tie. She sighed and shook herself out; perhaps it was about time she stopped pondering the fog and began actually doing her job.

She stepped away from the open window and let her petite paws carry her over to the bulletin boards, where she observed images of scowling outlaws and pictures of lost items and where they had last been seen. Some jobs even had missing notices, lost Pokemon in sprawling dungeons that sometimes grew so confusing that they were never able to find their way out. Elysia once again sighed, shaking her head in vague disbelief. Foreigners made out Andalusst to be perfect; a tourist spot maybe, a safe-haven where you could live your life in comfort and peace. But every town had their bad parts; Andalusst just decided to gloss over the theft, murder, kidnapping, and make the explorers guild deal with it.

The Shinx shrugged, her ears suddenly perking as she heard someone say something about the bulletin. She hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but now ELysia was curious. Quirking a brow, the explorer padded over to where she had heard the voice, coming upon a Ralts who had receded from the board. Mustering up the courage to speak to her, Elysia stepped into view of the adjacent explorer, offering a nervous smile. "Ah, I didn't mean to listen in, but what did you mean by 'bad idea?"

Nix moved herself to she was leaning on the edge of the window, her eyes moving out over the town below and then to the dark fog around it and she sighed. She hadnt know about this place until she was here and she liked it well enough, the fog was something odd that she hadnt known about until she had asked someone in town and even then she still didnt really under stand it or what it did but it was something that was there every day. She was thinking about going and asking someone about it when she heard a voice and turned her head, forcing a little smile she noted a new pokemon behind her.

It wasnt one she knew, though she knew very few so she bowed her head and gave a little sheepish grin. "I kinda wanna explore, but i also dont as i have never done it before" she said with a little tilt of her head. She was being honest, that was one of the reason she didnt want to go out there but there were others too, she didnt need to explain them all though. This was some stranger after all, they could have been another explorer like herself or someone else just in here needing aid and she couldnt really go talking to them as if they were the former with nout checking.

The young explorer glanced up to the ralts as she looked out the window, her orange optics on the same thing she had been observing a moment before. Elysia's fiery, thunderbolt yellow eyes soon wandered to the fog that hung near the town, frowning as she watched it. Perhaps if the fog had not barred them into Andalusst, they might've seen strong, regal mountaintops poking above the clouds, but alas, the fog was a barrier. Once again, she shrugged. It wasn't like she was too troubled by it, but maybe it was because she had been born in Andalusst and the fog was all she had ever known.

Her attention flickered back to the Ralts, who seemed like she wanted to say more than her simple answer but was biting her words back. Her curiosity was piqued, but Elysia refrained from asking about any with-held information, instead thinking about what she was told. Not going into dungeons because she had never done so before? Well, maybe Elysia was getting a bit too bold for her vaguely timid nature, but she responded anyways. "But, if you never go into a dungeon because you haven't gone into one before, you'll never get to explore thing!" she responded, although her force remained rather low and kind of quiet.

She looked back to the bulletin and then pinned her eyes back on the Pokemon adjacent to her. "Ah, what's your name...? If you don't wanna go into a dungeon alone, i can go with you.'

The new pokemon spoke and nix could tell she was female, her voice gave her away but she seemed nice. She spoke so highly of dugeon, or maybe she was just excited about them, and it made nix chuckle a little. Nix bowed her head, nodding in agreement with the female comment before she offered nix aid and the little ralts tilted her head again. "That might be a good idea, i know i want to go....i just dont know if i will be any good" she said, more thinking out loud than actually adding to what was being said.

A moment later she noted the female had asked her name, the shinys face flushed red before she offered out a hand and smiled. "I'm Nix, Nix Night. Im not from around here, have been around a while but i dont meet others well" she said in greeting. Best to lay all of ones cards on the table from the beginning, not lead someone along even if it did seem like a lot to say all at once.

A small silver Eevee was observing the duo that were speaking to each other, she couldn't quite hear what they were saying. But she sort of knew about what they were discussing. Exploring dungeons.
It was something Lifa most likely would enjoy doing, as it distracted her from her continues urge for revenge. Perhaps she should join on whatever mission they would go? It would get her one step closer to the killers of her parents and siblings.

Lifa wanted to take a step forward but then stopped herself as she suddenly grew shy. What if these two were just as bad as the ones out there?
... Impossible. they wouldn't be welcome in the Guild if they were, right?
The Eevee then raised her head with pride. She shouldn't be afraid of a bunch of babies, right? Well. Technically they looked a lot older than she was. But possibly around the same power-level as her. One was a Shinx, and the other was a.. shiny Ralts. Ah, so there were other shinies around. She wondered if this Ralts had a tough life just like hers.

Without further ado, the Eevee stepped forward with her head held high. "Move aside." She told the two bitterly, quite possibly interrupting their introduction. This was all so she could reach the bulletin board to check the posters. She really didn't want to be rude, but.. what choice did she have? In such a cruel environment?

Elysia stared at Nix with wide, yellow eyes, their fiery, determined depths settled by an onset of disconcerting timidity. It was unexpected, coming from the young Shinx who always made her opinions known and seemed to step into a role of a leader at times, even though she hated groups and avoided crowds at all costs. It was unknown why Elysia had initially gone up to Nix, but perhaps it was simply because the explorer had not wanted to head into the dungeon without someone by her side, even if she hadn't known this was true. Still watching the Shiny Ralts, she smiled a bit as the other let herself laugh a little. "Doesn't really matter if your good, if you get through it you can some money. So, win win, right?"

"I'm Elysia. I, uh, guess I'm from around here? i don't meet people well either." she responded, looking from Nix to the bulletin board awkwardly. She had never been great at conversation in general, but she managed. Looking back to Nix with her thunderbolt yellow optics, she smiled nervously and nodded. "Nice to meet you, I guess!"

Suddenly, a dark ear twitched as a voice reached and Elysia turned, her yellow eyes flickering as they landed on a Shiny eevee. Her eyes narrowed at her biting words, resisting from biting back at the stranger as she comprehended her words. Her smile wiped from her face, Elysia looked back and forth, before attention finally landed back on Lifa. "...What?" she wondered, narrowing her optics. She and Nix had been having a pleasant conversation, up until this Eevee had approached. "It couldn't help to be at least a little polite, would it?" she wondered, and while she might've stayed there just to annoy the other, Elysia stepped aside and turned back. In theory, she was weak in confrontation and couldn't handle if the shiny Eevee got more angry.

Nix watched over the shinx before her eyes shifted to something a little out of her line of sight, she turned her head to see another pokemon close by and she saw sure it was watching them. Though a moment later it seemed to move its gaze and she shook her head, she was worrying over nothing. Yes, that was it. Her eyes moved to the board for a moment, wondering which of the missions she had glanced at that she wanted to do. One came to mind that she had wanted to try but was worried about being a little weak for the area but then the worry of what to do with rewards and things they found if there were two of them.

The shinx gave her name and nix bowed her head again, smiling as the female spoke once more. "Nice to meet you too" she said, a little smile growing on her face about to become a genuine one when the other pokemon pushed past the duo and nix frowned. "Hey"! nix said as the female spoke, starting forwards to the other pokemon. "We gave you no reason to be rude!" she snapped, anger burning over her worry in seconds.

Surely there was no reason for her to be rude to the two, but as Lifa had already messed up their first encounter, she was bound to keep acting like a brat despite her real intentions. She just didn't want them to look down on her, or even be a possible victim for mugging. She tried to be tough, just so she could survive in this place.
"You both were holding up the line." Lifa replied to the Shinx in a snarky tone before merely turning her head at the Ralts. "So I decided to take matter into my own paws." They weren't even close to holding up the line, the two were simply enjoying a small conversation. Lifa, simply put, was horrible at meeting others. This wall that she had put up, it blocked most of the insults and threats even though it still got to her at the end of the day.

Lifa took a good look at the bulletin board, however, she saw nothing of her liking. Well, to be honest, she did. But those missions looked tough for one single Eevee.
Trying hard to avoid the two burning eyes in her back, Lifa turned around with her head held high. "Nothing really caught my interest. I should probably inform my team." She lied about having a team, because who would ever hire a pokémon that was level 5? Certainly nobody in the guild.
The Eevee started trotting away slowly, hoping to hear whatever words they were going to say next. Though then she turned the corner and she sat down with her ears drooped. Who was she kidding, she wasn't even Explorer material, let alone material to be in a team.

Elysia glanced to the side at Nix as she grew angry too, the Shinx soon standing and lashing her spark-ended tail in annoyance. The two of them had been having a conversation beside the bulletin board and she was positive the Shiny Eevee could have been able to squeeze in and take a look at the board, even if they had been in the way. These thoughts that raced through her mind just amplified her anger, prompting her to make the situation more of a confrontation than it already was. Stepping forward, the Shinx stared daggers at Lifa, her electric yellow eyes sparking. She had never learned to control her temper, especially to those who were rude.

"And, what? You couldn't see the board over the heads of two Pokemon who weren't even in front of the board in the first place?" she wondered pointedly, trying to uncurl her lip and prevent herself from baring her teeth. While the Shinx had wnated to say more, she paused as she watched the Eevee rake her eyes over the notices critically. "Or were you just rude for the sake of putting on a bad impression? Because you sure did!" Perhaps, Elysia was going a bit overboard, being a bit too mean, but she had already flown off the handle and she wasn't getting back to it. It took everything she had to not call a snarky comment after the retreating Explorer.

Sighing and letting her shoulders drop, Elysia turned back to Nix and sighed. "Sorry, i get really angry." she murmured, shame beginning to heat up her ears and cheeks. She hadn't meant to be that cruel, but there she went again, being overly rude for perhaps a slip of tongue.

Nix could feel her small hands ball in to fists and she glared at the other pokemon, it spoke again and nix gave a huff of sorts and was about to snap back before the shinx at her side did. Nix laughed at her comment, nodding her head in agreement. The other pokemon said something else and wandered off, away from the board and nix turned to the shinx as she spoke again and nix chuckled. "Dont worry, she had no right to be that rude. I would have done the same" the ralts confessed, lifting a hand to rub the back of her helmet with a sheepish grin. Truth be told, nix was sure she would have been as harsh if not more so had the shinx not already done it.

"So, since shes gone, do you wanna pick something out?" she said, trying to quickly think of something else for the pair to do to get their minds off that other pokemon. Nix felt her eyes dart back to the board and look it over once more, that worry about rewards in her mind again but she put that thought to the back of her head and tried to ignore it. The other pokemon hadnt even picked out a mission they wanted to do together, they didnt need to worry about its reward until they knew what it was!

The Shinx let out a frustrated, low growl, tensed shoulders relaxing and lowering slightly. Her previously lashing tail came to a rest as the conflict ended, the tender breeze that fluttered through the open window doing some help to calm her nerves, although they still remained haywire and frazzled. Blinking, electric yellow eyes softened only slightly before turning towards Nix, remnants of an angry frown decorating her face. "Really?" she wondered, letting out an immense sigh of relief. "Oh, okay, good. Thought I went a bit overboard with that."

Feeling at least a bit more calm than before, she turned towards the bulletin board that Nix had mentioned, measuring it with interest and a decisive gaze. She looked over the crinckled, folded papers for a moment, before letting her attention rest on one in particular. Moving forward, she let a blue-tipped paw rest on a note left behind by a Duosion who desperately wanted their Warp Seed back. "How about this one?" she wonders idly, although she had already decided she liked this one and wouldn't change. "Seems pretty good to start out with..." she murmurs, looking over the details carefully.

nix smiled at the other pokemon as she saw the shinx relaxing, nix nodding her head and her horn buzzing a little bit as the emotions in the room changed before focus shifted from the issue before to the job they wanted to do. "Its not harsh, no one has the right ot start on someone for helping or even for no good reason!" she said in reply to the first comment before the shinx moved pass her and over to the board.Nix moved behind her, watching slowly for a moment a the shinx looked over the listing and then settled on one. Nix smiled, reading it over the top of the shinx and nodding her head as she read its words. "That sounds do-able" she said with a little grin, excited that this was going to happen and it was going to happen when she had company. "To start with? sounds even better" she joked, her gaze moving from the board over the guild to the main doors and then back to her new team mate, the grin on her face ever growing.

Elysia looked to Nix with wide eyes, vaguely feeling the soft breeze of wind from the open window on the back of her neck. The air had changed to a more care-free mood and Nix's words helped her ease back into a happy mood, but she became aware of most of the eyes of the guild on her and Nix. Of course, such an explosive confrontation would not go unnoticed by those around them. Feeling heat rush to her face in embarassment and a newfound timid nature, she turned back to Nix and tried to ignore the heat of many eyes on her flank.

Sighing and shifting her eyes to the job board once more, she nodded in agreement with Nix's statement. "Yeah, she shouldn't have acted so rude to us." she agreed, narrowing her eyes in annoyance. She despised when others were rude to another for no reason whatsoever; what had they done to prompt that Eevee to be rude to them?

Letting out an annoyed sigh, the Shinx shook out her blue and ebony pelt, as if shaking away the situation that had just happened. Her eyes were directed back to the job board, wide electric yellow eyes looking towards the notice she had already chosen to go on. To be honest, she had merely chosen it because it seemed easy enough to do, and she was glad that Nix agreed. "Yeah! that's why I chose it." She responded, offering a wide smile that showed off a row of sharp, alabaster teeth. "Wanna go do it right now? I'm itching to get out of this place." She admitted, taking a flighty glance towards the guild doors and back to the Ralts.

THISISWHERNix gave a reassuring smile as she noted the other shinx gazing around, nix didnt care. Partly because she was the pokemon of emotion and she could always feel emotions, she kind of grew to ignore most of the ones she felt so things like others thinking she was weird or a little out spoken never got to her. Though, she also just didnt care. The eevee had been rude, nasty even, and nix and her freind had put her in her place and that had been the right thing to do. If others disagreed, well let them come and say it and stop just whining about it quietly. This thought in mind, nix grinned as her freind spoke again.

Nix nodded to the shinx words, before the electric type tried to focus on their job together to get over the whole thing and nix nodded once more. "Sounds good to me, lets do this!" she said with a laugh and another nod of her head, moving a little towards the guild exit before she paused. She was exited, very excited, but she needed to wait for her company and not just charge off and leave her behind
