// For Peace was no more//Ah! Peace and quiet! @kia
After Domino’s battle against Meredith, the Totodile, the proud little Emolga decided to take a bit of a rest somewhere calm and quiet. Even though it was a clear victory, Domino was clearly beat from the damage she had indeed received from the croc and needed a break from all the craziness her life represented her. The little squirrel made her way through the market place when her tiny nose picked up a whiff of a gentle smell. Sniffing with her nose in the air, Domino faced the building that held the locations of such soothing, rejuvenating smells that cleansed the soul.
The little Emolga stared at the establishment, known as the Minccino’s Café, but a grin, nor a smirk, showed on her face. There was quite a bit of interest, though, clear as could be. Because of such interest, Domino took the opportunity to enter, and boy did she make the right decision. Looking around, she could see a lot of Pokemon conversing and the like, but the place wasn’t so insanely noisy. It was calm enough, and the Pokemon for the most part seemed to mind their own business. Perhaps she wasn’t the only one here looking for some peace and quiet.
The little Emolga made her way past whatever Pokemon may have been making their way out, and decided to pick a seat least populated. She looked around to see if the business owner was around, but didn’t care enough to really make a thorough glance even. Instead, she took her seat, and with a relieved sigh, closed her eyes leaning back on her seat. Perhaps she would get a drink if she so wished, but for now she would stay put, keeping away from any Pokemon unless she’d see a potential victim.
For now, though, she stayed put, avoiding the groups as much as she possibly could.

The silence was warm, broken only by the soft rasp of fur on paper. Paliki's gaze was trained intently on the book before them, consequently drowning out the world around them. This was one of their favorite pastimes. Minccino's Cafe was one of the most peaceful places in town, with quite a few tasty treats to go along with it. Paliki couldn't think of a better place to curl up and read a book.
As it was, Paliki still adhered to their reclusive nature. Rather than claiming a spot on one of the seats scattered about the establishment, Paliki found their own place to read. That place being in the corner, on top of a bookshelf. As odd as it seemed, it was the perfect spot for Paliki. They couldn't be bothered up here. Most Pokémon didn't even know Paliki was there.
Paliki was becoming a regular at the café. On a near daily basis, the Pachirisu would visit Minccino's Café, often ordering a pastry or bowl of berries. From there, they would retreat to a cozy corner and read the most recent book they had selected from the library.
This one specifically had to be one of Paliki's favorites. It told a story of a Pokémon community that was suffering from fluctuations in the flow of time. It focused on the journey of two Pokémon and their efforts to halt the destruction of time. It was startlingly well-written, full of twists and turns, and Paliki was overall quite enthralled with the tale.
A shuffling noise below them tugged their attention away from the story. Paliki's azure ears twitched, and they peeked over the edge of the bookshelf curiously. Below them sat an Emolga who, oddly enough, wasn't doing anything. No book, no newspaper, no company. They hadn't even partaken in the delicious array of food that Minccino offered.
That's odd. Aren't they bored, just sitting around like that?
Normally, Paliki didn't go out of their way to interact with others. Now, however, Paliki couldn't brush off the subject. The Emolga seemed lonely, and Paliki could at least offer them a good book to read.
"Hello." Paliki chirped, still looking down at the Emolga. They tucked the book under their paw.

// For Peace was no more//Buzz off, Pest! @kia
Domino’s eyes may have been closed, but her large ears picked up on something. A greeting? Opening one eye slightly, Domino’s black eye could see no Pokemon standing around her, but then she dared to glance upward, where she thought the sound had originated from, and her eyes made their way up to the top of the book shelf, where a Pachirisu sat with a book in tow. The creature was staring right at her, making it undeniably obvious that it was staring right at her.
Domino cringed. Not even five minutes and already she was being pestered by someone. What was it with her? Was she just a pest magnet or something? Regardless, the little Emolga treated the Pachirisu with as little disregard as she would with anyone else. Domino quickly shut her open eye, hoping the curious little land squirrel didn’t notice it was ever open. It was possible, the eye never opened up that widely to begin with.
Unfortunately, it seemed like the eager expression was too strong for the Emolga to ignore, and her eye opened back up, clear annoyance plastered across her face. Her eyes crunched shut as she heaved in a heavy, aggravated sigh, turning away from the squirrel in a stubborn attempt to ignore it. Domino refused to utter a word to the curious squirrel, and it was obvious that she couldn’t care less about what the Pachirisu wanted.

The cheery Pokémon was not at all put out by the Emolga's lack of enthusiasm. On the contrary; Paliki's curiosity was piqued. Paliki wasn't stupid; She had encountered less than social Pokémon before, and wasn't a stranger to being told to shove off. However, this Emolga was just plain ignoring them, despite the fact that it was clear Paliki had been noticed.
Paliki let their smile fade to a neutral expression. Their perky attitude seemed to only aggravate this Pokémon more. Paliki quirked their tail. "You look bored." They stated. Paliki might have said that the Emolga looked lonely, but that would have been a lie. In fact, the Pokémon seemed perfectly satisfied on their own.
Nevertheless, Paliki persevered. Inching forward slightly, the Pachirisu set their book aside and let their paws dangle over the top of the bookshelf.
"You could try reading." Paliki suggested after a moment. "It's really quite enjoyable and relaxing."
Hopefully, that would at least catch the Emolga's interest. After all, for what reason did one come to a café like this other than to relax? Not only that, but Paliki personally enjoyed the way they could distance themself from the real world with a book. It was necessary at times.

// For Peace was no more//Jeez, What a nerd! @kia
To Domino’s utter disappointment, the little pest continued to persist in their attempt to get her attention. The little Emolga’s eyes continued to crunch until they suddenly opened, a slight twitch at her clear discomfort. She mentioned that Domino looked bored. Well, what did it really matter to her? She’s been bored before, but this wasn’t it. When Domino was bored, she would be looking for trouble in any form, whether it be causing an uproar, or stealing goodies from others. Obviously, she tries to use her brain in the process, but if she was really bored, it wouldn’t be hard for her to get rid of it. At least, not in a place like this.
But she was very easily annoyed right now. Much more irritable than usual, which was quite the feat, considering she had just won a battle. Domino wouldn’t dare hide her frustration at the squirrel’s pestering, but she didn’t feel like inflicting any kind of pain on the little runt, even though she really wanted to deep down. Perhaps the other Pokemon around were part of her reasoning. She cared very little about causing a riot at this point.
As the Pachirisu continued to try and converse with the already pestered Pokemon, Domino’s attention was brought to the book that the squirrel had. It was the first time she actually managed to have a good look at the cover, and Domino gave an angry smirk at them. The sky-squirrel was okay with reading, and actually used to like it. That changed along with everything else in Domino’s life, though.
Glaring at the book and then its owner, Domino ridiculed her in silence. Crossing her arms over her chest, the little sky-squirrel made no other effort to even acknowledge the other squirrel. In all honesty, Domino used to love fiction. It was a good bypass of time for her. She certainly never had any friends to help her do that, and her family…
Well, that was a story for a different time. A time that Domino hoped would never come. “Books are stupid and so are you.” Domino stated with very little disregard to what the Pachirisu had to say after.

It took quite a few good tries before Paliki could even manage to get the Pokémon to look at them. And even when she did, her expression stated quite clearly that she wasn't interested in conversation. She seemed irritated beyond belief with Paliki.
Of course, that didn't sway the Pachirisu. They had a goal, now. And they were just a bit too stubborn to give up at the first signs of disinterest. Paliki got the feeling that this Emolga didn't receive too much positive social interaction (if her greetings were anything to go by).
"I don't think you mean that." Paliki replied adamantly. Paliki hadn't ever come across a person who didn't like some sort of book or another. Fiction, nonfiction, educational, you name it. "There's a book out there for everyone." They continued. "It just depends on what you like."
Paliki considered hopping down from her perch. It felt mildly rude to hold a conversation on such a higher level. However, she got the feeling that the Emolga wouldn't respond well to an invasion of her personal space. That might shatter the little patience she had left.
It was true that, in Andalusst, books certainly weren't the priority of the population. With looming fog on all sides and outlaws crawling through their midsts, the people of Andalusst busied themselves with other things than studying and fantasizing. Of course, Paliki believed daydreaming to be just as important.
At least some Pokémon still enjoyed simple activities, like reading, relaxing, socializing. Unfortunately, this Pokémon was (apparently) not one of them.

// For Peace was no more//Go away... @kia
The Pachirisu was keeping their distance, which was something Domino could appreciate, but that mouth of theirs just kept blabbing on. The little squirrel felt her arms tighten around her own chest as her teeth clenched. It didn’t seem like the squirrel would relent in trying to get Domino to read, but then again, neither would the Emolga give up in her resistance. Silence didn’t work and neither did this one insult. Maybe if she kept this up, though, the Pachirisu would eventually get irritated and give up her act of “charity”.
“Yeah,” was Domino’s response to their saying that she didn’t mean what she said. Domino made sure their eyes met, because her eyes didn’t spell for a pleasant time for this squirrel. “Do I look like I don’t mean what I say? Ever?” It was true. Domino had no reason to lie, as horrible as she was. She was aware that the Pachirisu probably didn’t intend to make it sound like they thought she was lying, but that she was mistaken. Which was also offensive to Domino.
Whether there was a “book out there” for Domino, the Emolga couldn’t give a Gloom’s spit about it. Domino continued to hold that same gaze as the Pachirisu prattled on about books. In all honesty, they really weren’t saying that much, but it was enough to make the other squirrel to tense up. Even after everything she said, Domino held their gaze in her own emotionless expression, intending to give the odd, stubby armed squirrel a bit of intimidation.
Why wasn’t this enough to send this pest away?
