She held me spellbound
in the night
The Marketplace was devoid of any sounds, the streets were empty of the usual hustle and bustle of chattering Civilians as they went about their day. Everything was covered in a blanket of darkness, the night sky only illuminated by the light of the bright moon and small, pin-pricks of scattered stars. The only who were awake were the outlaws that slunk through the alleyways, tying up loose ends and conducting important business. The small Skitty slunk through the dark under the cover of nighttime, her hips tied with a dark leather belt, a small pouch of coins dangling at her side. Her face was grave and overcast, dark shadows falling across her pink and beige features to help her expression look even more terrifying. She didn't look happy, should anyone even see her.
She had business she didn't like, debts she had left unpaid which had put her in even deeper trouble than before. She got too loose with her secrets, her lips had said things that shouldn't have been said, and no here she was, creeping along the dead of night to meet her assailant. She couldn't even look at herself anymore, someone like her being taken advantage of. A sigh fluttered from her chest, the weight of her problems slumping her shoulders as she side-stepped piles of goop and junk that laid abandoned on the sides of brick buildings. Orange light from fire-lit lanterns illuminated the path above, the alley she had been treading opening up into a lazily cobbled street, which lines around the massive statue of a Mythical Pokemon. A pile of dread dropped into her stomach and she paused, only briefly.
How had she let herself become such a doormat? Had her past gotten to her, made her soft? She couldn't handle it anymore. She needed out.
Olympia bared her teeth as she walked on, petite paws stepping upon the stone underfoot with an elegance that nearly seemed furious. Her anger was mounting to a ver pith as she walked close to the circular stand of the Regigigas Statue, eventually rounding to a dark figure hunched beside the dark rock. The Sableye's face was illuminated with flickering red light, the lamplight glinting upon his Crimson gem eye as he turned to meet her. A malevolent grin ripped upon his face and she sneered, her tail whipping from side to side. "How wonderful of you to join me." he said, his voice sounding like nails on chalkboard in her ears, causing the hairs on her back to raise in warning. Unhitching her bag of coins from her side, she tossed it at him, her eyes glittering with extreme animosity. "There. Take your stupid money." she sneered, flicking her tail with malice as she turned on her heel, starting to stalk off.
"Ah, wait my dear. Is it possible that you've come short this week?" she whipped around, her face not even the least bit shocked. He'd been pulling this trick for a while now, but this time, she wouldn't give in. "Everything's there, take it and leave." the Skitty hissed, her voice dripping with venom. The Sableye's began to walk towards her, the bag jingling in his hand as he stalked towards her. His smile hadn't fallen, it had only seemed to grow in intensity. Olympia couldn't keep herself form flinching as the bag dropped at her feet, the Sableye's now so close that she could see the cut of his gem eyes.
"Well, I suppose you haven't heard. That won't do anymore, inflation, you see? I need 10 more."
This was the last straw. She wasn't taking anymore of this. Olympia stepped forward, her eyes glimmering with hatred and her voice loud and filled with animosity. "I don't have 10 more! If you think you can keep doing this to me, you're wrong! Take this money and leave, or I'll make your face look like a scratching post." huffing in complete anger and rage, she watched as the Sableye's dark hand rose, sharp claws glinting in the light as his smile grew.
"You just made quite the mistake, my dear."
