Nighttime. Or at least that's what the diurnal pokemon's biological clock would tell them. The sky itself far too busy cloaking itself into an odd arrangement of dulled grey and pinks. The scent of rain was heavy in the air. A night rain, something only a few nocturnal creatures witnessed; fewer still decided to stay out in. Such as Renmei. The white absol stuck out like a flame within a dark dungeon, white coat plastered to her body as the shower had begun its downpour. Red eyes stared up curiously at the town's central protection, their stone tree, the heart of their community. The old, beaten stones resounded softly against her mind. A mountain being like herself tended to find such high heights and pleasant stone scents to be of comfort. Far much more than if she were stuck in a lush field full of flowers. There just wasn't quite anything like the coldness of rock to please her inner workings.
High above she could see the orbs of lights dancing their pixie dance. Glittering in and out of existence, raising into the sky when they were visible only to fade once more. It was like a game of hide 'n seek really, albeit one clearly seen even through the haze of falling rain. How she would have like to climb up there and surround herself in that protective light... Alas, there were more than one thing barring her from that. The decrepit stairs. And the rules. There were rules about this but it was the stairs that forced Renmei to realize her weight and size. Whilst not the largest nor the heftiest of pokemon, she still didn't want to try to force her way up there during a storm. No matter the fact of landing on her feet if the height were just right, cat-like and as agile as her form would tell.
But not every creature was as deft or smart as her, there wasn't a doubt in her mind that some youngster or foolhardy group would try and scale the tower no matter the consequences. That was the real reason why she was sitting there in her 'morning' hours. Waiting patiently for some fool to come along and think that no one was watching them basically rock climb themselves up there. Unless they flew. Those guys broke all the rules. So easy to do she was sure, being born with wings and all. Never mind that lot, too hard to catch let alone wanting to waste the energy on such trifles. No- she would wait for land dwellers such as herself.
