The day had been scorching so far. The sun rose with intensity that morning, heat and discomfort following in it's wake. On the streets, Pokemon fanned themselves, dipped toes into the river, and begged anyone capable to give them a gust of wind. Unsurprisingly, there were not many spectators in the stands, although a few still remained, facing the sticky warmth to watch an exciting battle. The two of you stood at opposite ends of the small stadium, a small pit fitted with soft sand sitting in between the two of you. The metal gate that had been keeping you from running out onto the field lifted with a squeak, moaning as it lifted from the ground so that the two of you could step into the arena. The gate shut behind you forcefully, ensuring you couldn't escape; even so, you could spot medical personnel sitting on the edges of the seats above. moments after you had moved yourself into the center of the pit, the booming voice of an announcer played over, although slightly less enthusiastic. Without much delay (likely due to wanting to get out of the heat), the announcer counted down to one, initiating the battle. While Glacia was fast, her swiftness could not compare to Ryleh 's, who would clearly e making the first move.

Ryleh sighed deeply as he steeled himself for combat. He had come to a realization after the incident in the town square a few days ago... His combat ability was utterly abysmal. Thus he had signed on for the arena. If he was going to do some combat training, it might as well be in a controlled enviroment. So now here he stood onder the scorching sun, poised to fight for the amusement of the masses. He didn't mind, it was a voluntary arrangement for everyone involved.
He approached his opponent, an Amaura of unusual coloration. That meant an ice type... Judging by the arena, camouflage would likely put him at an elemental disadvantage. He circled his opponent, ready to make his first move. For a moment, he locked eyes with the other pokemon. "May the best pokemon win." Ryleh threw himself forward and reached out his grasping tentacles. He was intent on squeezing the fight out of his opponentwith brute force.

Glacia walked into the arena with her head high, hoping she could win the battle before her. The crowd let out a small roar as her opponent and her stepped out into the middle of the arena to battle. An Inkay, " water opponent, great. I can do this." Glacia felt uncomfortable with the sand beneath her feet and the sun beating down on her. She looked over at opponent, trying to put on a meaner face as she faced the Inkay. She focused, drowning out her surroundings, so she could summon a powerful attack.
As she went to attack he lunged forward, his tentacles outstretched towards her in an attempt to constrict her. A little panic formed in her but she ignored it and attacked. Glacia let out a roar and felt electricity charge through her as she used discharge.

Ryleh squeezed and constricted as best he could... but it wasn't enough. His opponent's tough hide stood up quite well to his assault. Then came the counterattack, a radiant discharge of electricity that made the inkay instinctively retreat under the electric assault.
He needed a change in tactics. Judging by the force behind the discharge this was not an opponent he would defeat head on. The inkay creeped back and kicked up a dust cloud as a distraction. His coloration changing as his body absorbed the properties of his surroundings.

Glacia felt the tentacles wrap around her, the slimy feeling making her skin tingle under the heat. The pressure came, but she could still breathe as the Inkay squeezed her as hard as he could. She felt the discharge shock him, and watched as he recoiled as quickly as he could. She looked on, feeling a lot better than she thought she would. As she watched the Inkay for his next move she noticed he was slowly vanishing and then *poof* he was gone.
"He used camouflage! For Lugia's sake!" She tried to think of what move she could use to make him appear, or at least effect him in his current state. The heat kept baking the ground and she thought about using powder snow just for some relief. It was then that it dawned on her. Ground Pokemon were not well protected from ice type moves. She smirked and waved her fans as a sheen of ice reflected off her hide. The sky seemed to erupt in snow, cooling the arena.

Ryleh knew he was outmatched. He knew this from the moment his opponent had effortlessly shrugged off his attacks, and how effortlessly she was now beating him around the arena.
Still, being beaten up was a learning experience all of its own, and the freezing cold, as painfully as it froze up Ryleh's soft body, could still be far worse.
He supposed he could make the best of it and get downed in style. Silently, he dashed forth from his camouflaged location and dealt a final attack. If he could hobble hid opponent for even a moment, he would consider today to be a worthwile day.

Glacia felt the cold snow fall and her body felt refreshed, the heat suddenly vanishing for a moment while her attack blasted the Inkay. She hoped the cold would slow him but she was doubtful and being unable to see him didn't help. Glacia looked about and then closed her eyes, trying to sense his movement in the ground. But she didn't feel anything and it worried her.
Her mind began to analyze again, knowing how poorly electrical type attacks would be against this opponent. "Powder Snow it is." She braced herself, her skin shining again as she prepared to attack. As she used her power she felt a tingle and the ground nearby her shake slightly as if someone was there.

Ryleh sighed. He had failed to meet even the simple goal of hobbling his opponent. And now here he was. Shivering and incapacitated by frostbite. The shame of defeat was worse than any of the pain he felt in the moment. For it was a merciless show of his weakness. He would have to train himself to prevent this happening in the future. It was unclear what was happening around him. Faintly, he felt himself be dragged away and out of the heat that so nauseatingly clashed with his currently frozen body.
He needed to be stronger. There wouldn't be medics to patch him up out in the wild. It was a rusk he simply could not take... he needed to train more. And also congratulate that pokemon that defeated him for their victory. After all, how else would he keep in touch for payback.
