Although Katey had been to The Kanga Room before(to pick up a job), she had never truly introduced herself to the owner before. Katey figured how could she make everybody happy by setting up a shop close to them and not even talking to them, and out of the blue they just get a ton of customers, and then they would think they were stolen customers and get angry.
Well Katey did not want that, and she figured maybe her and the other business owners could even host some kind of event soon, maybe a tournament of sorts. But for now, Katey would just stick to meeting the owner.
From the title of the inn and from what people had told her, Katey knew the owner was a Kanghaskan. Katey had met a few in her lifetime, one was even a teacher at her school. Of course, they were a bit scary at first with their giant size and all, but Katey ignored that as much as possible. Katey always thought their pouches and babies/kids were cute, although she was not gonna say that in front of the Pokemon, as she did not want to offend her in any way, shape, or form.
Slowly Katey opened the doors to the Kanga Room and walked in. She looked around the entrance way; It looked very pretty. Soon Katey just decided to call out, because it made everything easier. "Hello? I'm looking for Judy, the person who runs this inn?" Hopefully the Kanghaskan would come down. Hopefully she was friendly. Hopefully they could be friends.
Katey most definitely did not want the business owner thinking bad of her. Katey needed her. Katey needed Judy to be her friend. Besides, maybe Judy could offer some advice about owning a business, as it seemed like she had owned the inn for quite a while.
Katey looked over at the Odd Jobs board, and realized the board was getting a bit empty. But Katey had already grabbed the one she needed. Katey needed to get some Pokedollars from the job to work on her diner.

The inn, as always, was a bustle of activity. There were the pokemon who came here for the good food, the home cooked meal away from home and the cup of tea that came with a Kangaskhan who was always willing to lend a listening ear. And other pokemon came here for the shiftier side of the inn,for the Bulletin Board that offered jobs for both sides of the law. The crowd in the inn reflected that. There were smaller and weaker pokemon sitting at booths and at the bar, merrily chatting with one another as they ate their (admittedly delicious, in Judy's humble opinion) meals. And there were the stronger pokemon, those covered in battle scars and items, that glared at any passerby who dared get to close. Standing by the entrances were yet another category of pokemon, the bodyguards hired by Judy or perhaps her son Scamp, who made sure no battles broke out and that all were safe here. Judy had a very strict policy that anyone who crossed through her door - be they explorer or outlaw - was safe, and was willing to enforce that with a vengeance if needed.
At the center of all the commotion was the store owner herself, serving drinks to a group around the table as she laughed uproariously at a joke someone had told. As the eevee's voice sounded, however, voices stilled as heads turned towards the newcomer standing at the entrance. From the corners of the room, several pokemon bared their teeth or claws - it wasn't often someone just yelled for the inn owner from the door unless they meant trouble. But Judy waved pokemon down, wiping off her hands on the apron she was wearing before coming over. "Calm down boys, I can take care of myself." she glanced around the crowd for a moment before calling. "Scamp, take over!" A smaller Kangaskhan clearly recognizable as Judy's son popped up out of the crowd and grabbed the tray from Judy's hands before continuing onwards.
After a few minutes, conversations resumed, though Katey still received a few glares from some of the darker looking innfolk. Judy motioned for Katey to follow her, turning and lumbering to the counter by the bar and gesturing to a seat. The Kangaskhan disappeared for a few moments and returned with two juices, sliding one across the counter to the eevee before taking a sip of her own. "That one's on the house." her gaze sharpened a little as she leaned across the counter. "Now, how can I help you, miss. I assume it's something fairly important for you to be yelling across my inn like that."

Katey looked at the ginormous Kanghaskan owner of the inn. "Sorry, didn't really mean to barge in on you like that. " Katey took a sip of the juice, and it tasted amazing. Katey loved it. "Wow this is some good juice! Thanks, I appreciate it." After a quick moment of silence, Katey figured she should probably get a move on with what she was discussing.
"By the way, my name's Katey! I own the new diner that opened up a little bit away from her." Katey smiled and was in a very cheerful mood. "Just wanted to come say hi, and make sure there were no hard feelings. After all, I want us to be more like friends, not competition. Nothing hurts me more than a sad person. I enjoy seeing people happy. That's why I set up my diner."
Katey diverted the subject for a moment, because Katey felt she was getting too tense. Katey just needed to slow down a bit, her words were starting to come out too fast and slightly mumbled. So Katey pointed over to Scamp. "Am I wrong to assume this is your child?" "He's really cute, you know. Some day, I might have a kid. I just don't feel I'm ready for that." Katey decided she would just be quiet now, and listen to what Judy had to say.

The complement to her juice seemed to put Judy at ease - it never hurt to complement the fruit of one's labors. The giant nodded approvingly. "You've some manners at least." she conceded, folding her arms across her chest. As the Eevee continued talking, Judy's face became unreadable, the Kangaskhan simply observing her newfound competitor babbling. She didn't speak until Katey had long since finished, taking a moment to take a sip of her own drink. "Talkative one, aincha? And there's no need to worry." Judy placed her mug down. "I'm not worried about anything competing with the Kanga Room." her words were carefully neutral, they could equally be interpreted as positive or negative depending on the listener, but Judy's impassive face gave no hint as to which she meant. "Anyways, I appreciate ya coming around to introduce yourself. Good spirited of ya." Judy clinked her drink down on the table. "You're a good sort, so long as y'all aint interfering with my business I see no reason why we can't make friends." she did straighten up a little at the mention of her son, the instinctive protectiveness of any mother pokemon coming into play when he was mentioned. "And yes that's Scamp. Not much of a child anymore though." Judy looked over at the young Kangaskhan with obvious fondness. "He's getting too big for the pouch nowadays. Won't be long till he's off on his own." Judy nodded approvingly. "Taking over the family business, that one is. He's a good head on his shoulders." she spoke with obvious pride. Katey

Katey chopped down the last phrase the Kanghaskan had said. She finally figured it out, and Katey realized she had tensed up. That was probably the reason she was getting lost, Katey was not good at those types of things. She had never been very aweosome in tight situations, even though she told herself to be happy and calmly work through it. Her mind just wouldn't listen to her command.
Katey stood up; There was not much left to here. But Katey did indeed want Judy to stop by her diner sometime. "Well, thanks for the talk. I gotta go, have a lot of things to do at the diner. You know, I'd love it if you stopped by! That'd be awesome!" Katey smiled, and then began to walk through the door way. Well, no true enemies in business I guess. That's a good start to becoming who I want to be.

Judy chugged down the rest of her drinking, watching the eevee all but flee the situation with clear amusement. She made no move to stop Katey as she went, simply watching the eevee walk out until the crowd closed around her and Judy could see no more. With a small shrug, the Kangaskhan picked up both cups and lumbered back to the kitchen to clean them off, hiding a smile. Ah, neighbors. She realized she was an intimidating sort, this wasn't the first talk of this nature she had had. Still, that eevee was entertaining. Interesting to see where their interactions would go in the future! Kateythread end
