[googlefont="Megrim"][googlefont="raleway"] | JAYTIN Notes: jay is here!Katey 223 words |
Jay didn't usually visit the marketplace, especially now that she was working as an explorer. There were simply too many chances that one of her brothers, especially her younger brother, would be around, and if she saw them, she would probably quit altogether, just to spend time with them. She knew they didn't want that, so she tried to refrain herself. This was her first visit in weeks, and she was surprised at the changes.
"Katey's... Daisy Diner?" she read, a little confused. Was that here last time she came? probably not, or she would remember. She would like to visit, see who owned the place, but she would be expected to buy something, wouldn't she? Every coin she spent meant that her brothers got less for themselves, and she was the only person they could count on right now. But then, guild food was boring at best, and she could do with some variety...
She knew she had some money on her, and so, checking exactly how much she had, hoping it would be enough, or that she wouldn't have to buy anything if she explained that she was just looking, she pushed the door open carefully, not wanting to disturb anyone. "hello?" she called, wanting to see if there was anyone there. responsibility, something to protect.

Covet 25/25 PP 5 Katey was just organizing some ingredients and pinning up some rules when she heard the door open. It was Katey's first customer! Katey gathered herself with happiness and ran to see a Fletchling at the door. the Fletching said 'hello', and Katey was overwhelmed seeing someone there. "Hello, and welcome to the Daisy Diner!" Katey smiled and picked up one of her rather empty menus in her paw.
"Would you prefer a booth or a chair today?" Katey realized she was talking too fast and too much, and needed to calm herself down a bit. Katey apologized for it, with a slight blush."Sorry about that, just a bit hyped. You're the first one to visit! Today is the grand opening!" Katey smiled happily. She truly was excited about her first customer.
Katey peered over the Fletchling while talking to her... Looks like she might be around twenty years old, at the most... Does not seem to be trying to trick Katey into anything... Which if it were to try to do so, it would most definitely not be the first time that had happened. It has happened many times to the Eevee, because all she ever wants to do is help people. Dirty people had played tricks on her this way, and one she had barely escaped from. But even through those bad things they were doing, Katey knew there was still good in there somewhere. Katey has had hope to this day that people would begin showing off that part of them, not the so called deviously cunning bad guy attitude.
That was part of the reason Katey had started the diner. Katey wanted to help people out, Katey wanted to show people the good in them, and most of all she wanted people to have a good and fun time. After all, if you're not having fun or being happy, what is the point? Katey had seen people on the verge of going crazy from Pokemon being mean to them, but quite frankly, Katey didn't get it. Why? Why make Pokemon's lives harder than they already are?
But see that was the thing about it. Some dude a long long long time ago must have decided that to be 'cool', you had to be a jerk to everyone around you. And that trend had somehow continued on. Katey wanted to put an end to that trend, and counter it with happiness and joy. Of course, Katey was never cool when she went to school with Pokemon, and she didn't quite care. All she needed was to be happy, and she found the friends she needed in her life, as well as the friends who needed her in their lives.
And that's why Katey started the diner. Not just to make food, or to sell lottery tickets, but to give advice, spread happiness, help anyone in need. That's why Katey was there.

For some reason, Jay was nervous. Maybe it was because she knew perfectly well how many coins her wallet held, listening to them clank against each other gently in her pocket, and how much she would be indulging herself by spending even a coin. Maybe it was something else entirely.
She was slightly calmed when the eevee, presumably the proprietor of the place, bounced out to greet her. At least she wasn't scary or unwelcoming. Then again, an unwelcoming owner would not get a lot of business. She didn't worry about that for long, though. The eevee was already talking.
Jaytin listened, with a small, and still nervous smile, uncertain why the eevee was talking about so much, before she apologised. Her explanation, however, made Jaytin that bit more nervous. She was the first customer, and therefore expected to buy, or, or the eevee would be sad. not exactly the best first impression to give to someone. SO all she uttered was a soft "Gosh, I am?"
instead, jaytin picked up her smile again, more strongly this time. "Uh.. just me today, so... Chair?" She suggested, though the question was directed to her.
Her eyes flitted to the menu the eevee was holding, trying to read it while standing where she was. Then, they came to rest on the eevee herself, studying the little thing. Well, not so little compared to Jaytin herself, but to most, the eevee would be small. She seemed to be studying Jay as well, probably because they've never met before.
Standing there awkwardly, Jay realised that the silence between them was stretching longer. All of a sudden, words flooded out of her mouth without her having any idea what she was talking about.
"You own the diner? It must be a big responsibility! I don't think I've seen you before, have I? I'm Jaytin, by the way." Hastily, she stopped herself, and the sudden flood of words. responsibility, something to protect.

Katey woke up from her thoughts when the Fletchling responded with chair. "Okay, that'll be right this way please." Katey began walking through the big empty room, and realized, What was she doing? "Nevermind, you can just pick where you sit, since, well, you know, the whole restaurant is empty besides us."
Katey smiled as she listened to the Fletchling talk. "Yes, this diner does take a lot of responsibility to run, even before you have your customers. But I am always willing to do it to see smiles on young kiddos faces. By the way, I'm Katey! It's nice to meet you!" Katey figured the Fletchling already knew that, but for the context of what they were speaking about, Katey went ahead and said it.
"Construction of this building honestly did not take that long at all! I bet you half of the people that visit town often haven't seen it! I think it took maybe two months and maybe a half? Either way it's here now, so I'm happy!" But now Eevee needed to pass a test, to make her first customer happy. After all, that was the whole goal of her business anyways.
"So if you haven't seen the business yet, and don't come into town often, maybe you are one of the Explorers for the Guild? I always thought that would be cool, but I figured maybe making people happy this way would be better. I've had the diner planned out for about three years now, just had to get some final kinks and things worked out."

Relaxing now that she saw the eevee was fully kind and welcoming, jay smiled a little more confidently and hopped over to the eevee's side, even giving a little laugh at her words. She took a seat at the nearest seat possible, perching on the edge.
Listening to the eevee talk, it became evident that she was perfectly happy to chatter on, which was fine with jaytin, who was perfectly happy to listen. The eevee seemed real friendly, and so jaytin relaxed more, looking around the small diner just a little, though still paying attention to the owner of the diner, of course.
A small smile built on her face when the eevee, who had introduced herself as Katey, which was why the diner was called so. She also knew about responsibility, though she suspected that the kind needed to run a shop of any kind was a whole different sort.
She would have been perfectly happy to listen to the eevee talk all day, but she had been asked a question. "Me? Oh, yes, I'm from the guild. I hardly visit anywhere else." She explained with a smile, "I haven't needed to, much." it was hardly her preferred topic, though, she she quickly steered the conversation away from the guild and her lacklustre performances. "So, miss katey, just you and no one else running this diner?" She asked brightly, almost too brightly. responsibility, something to protect.

Katey smiled, as it seemed that the younger Pokemon was actually interested in what she had to say. Katey thought it was awesome that she was part of the Guild, and they were making a difference in Pokemon's lives. It made her happy to hear. Katey was still trying to make a difference, but the two were doing it in different ways.
The Explorers saved people from physical danger. Katey still did that every once in a while, but recently she had been too busy working on the diner. On the other side of things, Katey saves Pokemon from the darkness.... The darkness around them, the darkness in them, the fear, the angry, the sad... That was Katey's role. saving people from that kind of danger, which at times it is just as harmful as physical danger.
"That is awesome! I've always loved what the Explorers at the Guild do. Rescuing people-I've always loved people who do that." Katey smiled, but strangely felt as if she could open up to her about anything in the world, and Jaytin would keep the secret.
Katey handed her the rather empty menu, and sat down on the chair across. "It's a bit empty, I apoligize, still working on what food to offer!"
Katey responded to her question, "Yes, as of now, it is just me. But I think I'm good for now... For now at least." Katey looked at Jaytin. "Do you wanna know the reason I own this diner? I own the diner to do what you and the Explorers do, I fight off danger. But usually not physical danger, more like the pain inside. Fear. Anger. Sadness. Craziness. That is what I fight." After a bit, Katey told Jaytin: "You're my first customer, Jaytin! This meal is most definitely on me, do worry about paying for it!

[googlefont="Megrim"][googlefont="raleway"] | JAYTIN Notes: sorry for lateness!Katey 301 words |
Accepting the menu with a nod and what sounded like a murmured thank you, Jaytin turned her attention to the menu, that was now opened in front of her. The compliment to the guild made her smile distractedly. "Thank you. I haven't done much rescuing just yet, as I'm new to the guild. In fact..." Her attention still seemed be on the menu, though she had already finished reading it. Giving an embarrassed cough, she continued. "In fact, I don't think I'm much stronger than the average citizen. The senior explorers are far more experienced, of course. They're amazing!" Head still looking down at the menu she long finished reading to hide her embarrassment, she gave another small nod to when the eve talked about herself. She did't feel close enough to the eve to talk about such things yet, and she was't made for talking about inner feelings in the first place. She was far better at enduring and speaking to no one about anything. All she said was a neutral "I see", Her mouth twitching into what may have meant to be a smile.
she was about to order a dish in her budget, and yet expensive enough so that katey wouldn't think she was being a cheapskate, when the eevee told her that her meal was free, as the first customer. Jaytin's head jerked up in surprise. Had the eevee read her mind? No, that was impossible. Usually, Jaytin didn't take charity, but this wasn't really charity. "W-Well, thank you, thanks a lot!" She said, hoping she did't seem too surprised. Flashing the eevee a quick smile, not incredibly sincere, "Um, could I order now?" She just hoped she didn't sound rude, but her socializing skills with strangers were weak. Once she was familiar with them, she would be better. responsibility, something to protect.

Katey smiled. "Of course you may order now!" Everything felt a bit awkward, being it was Katey's first time waiting/cooking for anyone, being the fletchling was her first customer. "I apologize if this feels weird, I'm just really tired and this is my first time waiting anyone...."
Katey had a stray look for a moment, as if she was thinking about something else, but then turned back to Jaytin. "Guess I really haven't had much sleep recently after all!" Katey laughed a bit, then asked Jaytin, "So what would you like to eat today? Well, or drink. either way."
She felt like the nervousness was helped by being by someone that it seemed Katey could trust. That's what it seems like to Katey, that this customer could be trusted.
