Though he still is only in his first stage of evolution like his partners he hasn't really had much battle experience and joined the Guild on a whim that he will one day fight super strong pokemon. He isn't the smartest tool in the shed and will often run into battle head first rather than sitting back and thinking up a plan. Though he is usually one to work alone, being in a team with Julia... and Maximus isn't all that bad. He feels as though Maximus is an idiot but also a rival, the two will always fight and will probably never consider each other friends but the mutual respect they have for each other is still there even if it isn't very clearly seen.
