Fleurette inspected the roll of gorgeous black fabric in front of her, running her paws under it to test its texture and weight. It was thick and heavy, ideal jacket material. Fabric like this couldn't be found just anywhere, and if she didn't purchase it now then surely someone else would snap it right up. It was expensive, but she had the money. Her wallet wouldn't suffer a dent.
She paused before picking it up, wondering if she really needed it. Pokemon came in such variety, with different body types and shapes, that it was nigh impossible to mass produce clothing types such as dresses, jackets, and so on. There weren't many clothes that catered to one species. Instead, people wore accessories and more versatile garments, such as jewelry, hats, and bags. But these days it wasn't uncommon for people to commission a tailor for a custom-made article, especially for major events like weddings and funerals. Yes, it wouldn't hurt to keep this handy. She was probably going to use it for a school assignment, anyway, and not a commission.
Nodding to herself, the petite Espurr picked up the roll, staggering a little under its weight as she carried it to the cashier counter. When she reached for the crossbody bag that contained her wallet, though, she found that it wasn't there.
She glanced sharply up just in time to see a Beedrill zip out the door of the textile shop with the strap of her bag wound over one of its stingers. While she was distracted with the fabric, it must have somehow severed the strap of her bag and fled. It wasn't a huge loss; she didn't have anything valuable in there other than a relatively small amount of money. Still, she didn't appreciate having her possessions stolen.
"Hey!" the Espurr cried, racing past the utterly confused cashier and bursting out of the shop. Seeing the Beedrill zip through the street, she gritted her teeth and began running after it. It was incredibly fast, though; it must have used a move that increased its speed. Just what she needed with these stubby little paws of hers.
"Catch that thief!" she called to no one in particular as she pushed through the throngs of startled shoppers, hoping there was a police officer or capable explorer in the crowd. A cliche phrase to say, but she wasn't exactly concerned with the eloquence of her speech at the moment.
