Defeat Igglybuff - Dungeon Thread

You step into the cave, hearing the distant screech of Zubats and the soft, steady drip of water from the ceiling, despite no water being in sight. You can see a tile at your feet in front of you, an odd arrow painted atop of it. Despite the minimal light, you can see a faint glow from the square.

Glittering Cave, a very mysterious dungeon that Kenta really didn't think he'd have to go to alone. Always having Raimo by his side up until now, this was a true test of strength that if he could do this alone than he really wouldn't be dragging down his brother when they explored together. Re-reading the job letter, finding that he was going to have to make his way down to B6F the Elekid nodded and put the piece of paper into his inventory, "How hard an an IgglyBuff be?" You step through a narrow tunnel that you can barely fit through, jagged rock making up uneven walls as you sidled through. The ever-present trickle of water throughout the cave was in your ears as you reached a room with no exits and nothing within it. Odd, but maybe it was simply looted already, or maybe a design flaw in the dungeon.

Glittering Cave, a very mysterious dungeon that Kenta really didn't think he'd have to go to alone. The second he entered the next room and realized what he had done,, a loud crack of electricity zapped from his antenna and hit the ground in front of him as he stamped his foot. "God damnit!" He shouted before turning back and heading back to the previous room, angry and punching the walls of the narrow tunnel hoping to make a commotion for more Pokemon to come fight him. "COME ON! You walk down a narrow, rocky hallway, the sound made by your pounding echoing all throughout the dungeon. Your wishes seem to have been answered, for as you walk into the next room (which has a rather low roof), you are greeted by the sight of a groggy Larvitar. It seems angry that you woke it up from it's nap, but it was slow enough for you to strike it first.

His anger had completely filled him, these stupid rooms with nothing in them, not even an item to prove what he was doing. His hands colliding with the wall of the narrow hallways cuts and bruises forming on them but he didn't care he wanted to get stronger. He wanted to evolve to be like his father, he wasn't going to stop for anyone. As he made it down the hall he noticed something sitting down, quickly excitement building he started running towards it. One he made his way into the room he noticed it was a Pokemon and that Pokemon was sitting up, wiping its eye it looked at Kenta and anger enveloped its face. A smirk appearing on Kenta's he figured this was going to be his first real battle so not giving the enemy the chance to respond he he put his hands together and electricity moved between his antennae, "ThunderShock!" He shouted as the electricity moved from his head towards the enemy, Kenta didn't know much about type weaknesses but still he believed raw power could destroy anything. Sundance 182 notes

Kenta used Thundershock! It didn't affect the opposing Larvitar!

A shock of lightning is sent through the Larvitar, but instead of getting hurt, the Pokemon just seems to shrug it off. Yawning for a moment, the Larvitar lets a smirk overtake it's face.


Larvitar used Leer! It lowered Kenta's Defense!

The Larvitar's groggy eyes suddenly began to glow a crimson red, staring directly into your eyes with a ferocious glint. If stared into directly, fear would certainly strike your heart.

[Kenta]

As his Thunder Shock strikes the Larvitar, Kenta smirked with an even bigger smile than the Larvitar gave him back, "Oh you're strong. And a little ugly." As the Larvitar's eyes began to glow, Kenta did take a step back but immediately hit his fists together and started running towards this Pokemon in his way. Jumping into the air, his Fist caught fire and his smirk turned into a wild grin. "Shrug off this one you bastard!" He connected his fist to the Larvitar and continued to laugh as he jumped backwards and waited for the retaliation. Sundance 97 notes

Kenta used Fire Punch! It's not very effective...
Larvitar Health - 19/23

Despite the searing flames that connected with the Larvitar's body, it barely did much more than the Thundershock, allowing a similar smirk to overtake the enemy's face.


Larvitar used Leer! It lowered Kenta's Defense!

Once again, the Larvitar's now pompous gaze grew a similar crimson, staring into your soul with animosity fit for a criminal. Glaring, the Larvitar's eyes only returned to a normal color after a few seconds.

What the hell was happening, his thundershock lit up the entire room it felt like it was one of the strongest attacks he could do and it did nothing. Then his Fire Punch, a close quarters that he attacked with on multiple occasions, a technique that his father had taught him. His brother Raimo had his own version of the attack that used his feet, why was none of these working? The glare that the Larvitar gave him made him step back again, was this guy really out of his league? Clenching his fists he stared at the Larvitar and gave it the same glare that it had given him twice now, Kenta's eyes glowing a bright dark blue as he clenched his teeth. Sundance 125 notes

Kenta used Leer! It lowered the enemy's defenses!

The red soon left the eyes of the Larvitar, but as soon as it looked into your own eyes, the Pokemon faltered. Taking a step back, it seemed somewhat intimidated, but eventually, put on another facade, despite truly having been scared. It took a deep breath. "Hah... Tough... Guy..." it's voice sounded like metal grating against metal, a scratchy, unintelligible sound that could barely be made out as civilized words. Perhaps... This Larvitar had only recently lost it's way in the fog?


Larvitar used Bite! It did 8 damage!
Kenta health - 12/20

Suddenly, the Larvitar leapt at you, baring it's fang with malicious intent in mind. As it came in range, it let it's teeth go down on your arm, hanging on with a tight, locked jaw.

[Kenta]

Nothing was working, this thing was immune to his best attack and even his fire punch was not dealing enough damage. As the Larvitar lept at Kenta and its teeth crunched down onto his arm he let out a screech of pain, he held up his other hand and as it caught on fire he started to just pummel the larvitar with a few punches, trying as hard as he could to get it off his arm. "Die, Die, Die! Get off me you stupid lunatic!" Each word followed by another punch as he just tried to get it off him and even tried whacking the Pokemon on the ground, his arm paining and his screeched echoing through the cavern. Why did this have to be so difficult? If only he had Raimo here with him, if only he hadn't jumped the gun and tried to do a mission all by himself. Sundance 152 notes

Larvitar Health - 14/23

Hit at close range by such an attack certainly seemed to do some damage, but even then the Larvitar rolled away and out of range and stood, eyes gleaming menacingly. This Larvitar meant business, and it seemed determined to bring down the Elekid who had intruded on it's territory and nap. It rushed forwards once more.

Kenta health - 4/20

Instead of the arm, the Larvitar instead wen for your torso, sharp, alabaster teeth digging into your body. it seemed determined to do as much damage as possible, increasing it's bite force as time wore on.

It was no use, it seemed as though this Larvitar had stopped playing around and was ready to start fighting properly. Kenta was never one to run away and as he glanced around the glittering cave he knew that there were probably other Pokemon watching him, laughing at his foolish attempt at fighting this Larvitar but he couldn't continue. Not without his electric attacks so with one final push off of the Larvitar, ripping it off his chest where it had dug its fangs into him he bolted, turning on his heels he started running having to get away and catch his breath. Running down the south pathway he just hoped he could reach an area that would give him some space to relax or maybe he would find an oran berry to get his strength back but as he was going he may have to leave the dungeon and give up the mission... Why did he have to be so stupid and go on a crazy mission like this alone? Sundance 171 notes

You walk down a long path, there being an absence of angry footsteps behind you. The Larvitar either lost you when you ran, or just didn't feel quite too motivated to chase after you. Either way, you escaped, and now stood in in a small room, two caverns leading north and south.
